Screwing around with porigon-z and finding stuff in the process.

Items:
montage
tarball
Most of them are the same, but there are some new ones at the end. The PokéRadar was the last D/P/Pt item, and everything after it is new.
A handful of palettes for earlier items didn't match up in any intuitive way, but the new items seem fine.

Trainers from behind:
frame 1
frame 2
tarball

Overworld trainers et al:
awkward montage
No tarball yet, because some of them are oversized and won't come out right. Looking into it. May or may not abandon sprite ripping for the night here.

Will edit if I find anything else of interest.

Is there any reason there's what appears to be two rotom keys?

And yay it looks like they decided to recycle the Celebi event they used in crystal to a degree or the GS ball is just there to torment us.

I don't know why the rotom key is duplicated. There are actually two copies of the sprite in the game, right next to each other, with the palette similarly duplicated.

I don't think it's the GS Ball. I looked through the item names and it seems to be the "Competition Ball", whatever that means.

Nice.. I wish I knew how to rip so badly....

I want to use the enter sprite like fighting with a missing number that looks like a fossil.
So, google bombs don't work any more.

You should still download software to make your computer cure cancer.

The second-to-last ball is from Pal Park.

As for the last one, though, I have no idea.

I think the last one is for the Bug-Catching Contest.

Is that a Gameboy Color in the last row?
Have you ever thought about what Nurse Joy says after she heals your Pokemon? "We hope to see you again!" Does she WANT your Pokemon to get hurt?

That could mean all sorts of things. It'd be interesting if you could go back to the graphics for Generation I or II or something like that.

>graphics for Generation I or II

There weren't item graphics for specific items until Gen 3.

The GB Player switches all music to retro style (for nostalgia).
Edit: Any new music (Cerulean City, Cinnabar, Routes 24-25, Friendly Shop, Safari Zone Gatehouse, Safari Zone, Pokéthlon Dome, Pokéthlon Contestant Profile, Pokéthlon Rules, Dash Hurdles, Charge Relay, Pokéthlon Final Results, Pokéthlon Closing Ceremonies, Global Terminal, and Route 47) have remixes (i.e. GBC-sounding versions of the new songs). (ripped soundtrack)

Any chance the Pokemon Overworld sprites for when they follow you around will be ripped? And it seems like a lot of Trainer/Gym Leader ones have yet to be too.

I have all the overworld sprites. Pokémon are in the pokedex repository; people are not because I don't know what to name them all. I'll throw up a tarball when I get it sorted out.

Hey, Eevee. Whoa, it's been a while since I've posted. Anywho, I just had a few relevant questions. First, I noticed earlier in this thread when you gave the item names that you'd found, you showed the Japanese characters, & something's been bugging me about that.

I was wondering, how'd you get those JP characters to show up correctly in HTML without being garbled, & how do you enter them into your computer in the first place? Do you use a character palette, or do you enter them with the keyboard? I know my Macbook has a special palette just for Japanese Kana, but I was wondering what method you use?

Also, in the items sprites, look at the sprite in row 4, column 4. It looks like an escape rope, but it's white. I wonder what it is?
By reading this you have given me brief control of your mind.

They only show up garbled if the site isn't using Unicode. Unfortunately, most people don't have a clue about text encoding, so this is most of them. Veekun is entirely UTF-8.

Those names in particular were just copied from a text dump, but when I type in Japanese, I just switch to a different text entry mode that recognizes roomaji.

That's just a palette applying to the wrong sprite. The sprites and palettes were a bit intermingled, and my wild guess as to how to match them up doesn't work perfectly.

The names are all screwed up for me, but that's just because I haven't taken the time to install the east-Asian language pack yet. =P
