If you're going to do the whole "Do you want an egg?" business, then perhaps you should try dabbling with egg moves, natures, and specific genders. Anybody can make an egg using a Ditto.

Remember:
The female Pokémon will always hatch from the egg.
The hatched Pokémon will know compatible moves from its father (male).

So if you breed a male Farfetch'd who knows Poison Jab (Heart Scale) with a female Mankey, you get a Mankey egg who knows Poison Jab.

If I'm not mistaken, you can't trade eggs, so you would have to hatch the Pokémon. I might be wrong on that, but I'm sure you can't. Anyway, happy breeding!

Thiefy, you can trade Eggs over Wifi, but it is better to hatch them before trading.

Like I said, I didn't know if you could. Obviously, hatching them before trading is wise to ensure that the breeding was successful, and you got everything you needed on the Pokémon. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)
